Game On, Bitches!

Last night was the first Capital’s home game played at the MCI Center since they failed to make the playoffs in the 2003-04 season. Yes, it was preseason; yes, the Caps got schooled. It doesn’t matter, it was live hockey, and I didn’t have to listen to a ‘netcast. I was there, and it was awesome.

NHL Hall-of-Famer Ray Bourque was at the game, sitting pretty close to Bob & me. His son Chris was drafted in 2004 by the Caps, and will probably return to their AHL team, the Hershey Bears. That kid is short. After the mock shootout featured at the end of all the preseason games, and as we were leaving the arena, I stopped by and shook his (Ray’s) hand.

  1. Dude, Ray-fuckin’-Bourque! That is awesome. I would have to pull a Bobby Brady and never wash that hand again. When he lifted the Cup in Colorado, I almost shed the single Manly-Tear. I would have totally geeked out to him about his long wait for his Championship Ring, the whole Andreychuk-similarities, and especially his call to Tim Taylor during the playoffs encouraging the team. The Call (notice capitalization) was a huge deal down here in Tampa amongst the TRUE fans. I actually got goosebumps telling somebody at work that you got to meet him. Yeah, I know, I am teh gay.
