Literally: “Triumph of the Lightning”
The Southeast Division Champion Tampa Bay Lightning remain the only undefeated team in the NHL (like last year), and are tied with the Bruins (who have played three games more than the Bolts) for the highest number of points. The Lightning also have the lowest “goals against” total to date, but they have only played six games.
That leading-scorer Vaclav Prospal is gone seems to be having no effect on the offense. Eleven players have scored goals for the Bolts so far this season, the highest total coming from Cory Stillman, who was brought in from St. Louis on draft day to fill the Prospal void (4 even, 1 short). Defense, it seems, is slightly better than average, but the real credit goes to the goaltenders.
Khabibulin has five wins, and has, apparently, been pretty solid. Grahame has only played one game, but it was a shutout. And he really is a reliable backup goalie.
Okay, so where is this post going? To bed. The Lightning have to lose sooner or later, but hopefully not soon. Things are looking good for us Tampa fans.
