ALS Walk Done

Today was the ALS walk; I’d like to publically thank everyone that sent in their contribution to the fund-raiser; my friends and family helped me raise over $1,000. Save your pennies for next year’s walk & thanks again.

Give Me Your Money

It’s that time of year again… when I ask you for money. It’s not for me; it’s for the ALS Association to fight Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Some of you who read this site may have already received an email from me. If not, hook a brother up!

A friend of mine, Andy Bolton, died from ALS on June 30, 2004. That’s why I walked last year, and why I’m walking again this year. You can learn more about this neurodegenerative disease at this website.

Last year, my friends and family helped me raise over $1,200, and all of us in Andy’s Gang raised over $19,000. I think we can do better this year, with your help.

Let me make this absolutely clear: If you cannot or do not wish to make a donation, that’s 100% cool with me. No harm, no foul, no guilt from me. If, however, you’re still with me, here are some tips for donating:

  1. Even though the online (secure!) donation form has options starting at $25, they do offer an “Other Amount” selection.
  2. If you don’t want your name to be publically viewable on the ALS website, please check the “Please make this an anonymous donation” box on the form.
  3. Please check with your employer to see if they have an Employer Matching program.
  4. Your donation is tax-deductible; remember to print a copy of your confirmation as proof come tax time next April.

Thank you in advance for your donation. Again, if not, no worries.

Fight ALS 2005

Remember last year when I totally harangued all you beloved blog-reader types to give me your money? (The Plot: intro, rising, climax, denouement) Well, it’s coming upon that time of year again. Today I received an email from the DC/MD/VA ALS Association alerting me to the fact that they will have six regional walks this year (as opposed to last year’s two).

From the ALS site, clicking on the “2005 Washington, DC Walk To D’Feet ALS” link takes you to the page with all the info. There’s also a photo of last year’s walk on the page; this is my re-sized copy (the one on the site is 780k, 2000+ pixels wide… amateurs):

That’s Andy’s Gang in the photo, featuring (who else?) Erin and me! That’s pretty damned cool.

No blatant begging yet… gotta’ get my shit in order before I start guilting y’all into coughing up a few bucks.

Hook a Brother Up

Don’t forget to give me money for a good cause.

Sorry for being the annoying, money-grubbing asshole… again.

I know it’s an issue I’ll have to deal with eventually (my abject competitive nature)… but someone is threatening my top-money-maker-spot on the team.

Guys (those of you who haven’t already contributed), throw me five, ten, twenty, twenty-five or even a hunny dollars?

Every little bit helps, y’all.

Those of you that have contributed (a longer list than I expected): You Fucking Rule.

Donate, Bitchez!

So there was this guy I knew, Andy B. He died on June 30, 2004 due to complications (ultimate paralysis) associated with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a.k.a Lou Gehrig’s disease) [what is ALS?]. That totally blows, because Andy was such a great guy… I mean, a really great fuckin’ guy.

This October, I’m walking in the DC/MD/VA Chapter’s annual fundraising event in DC: The Walk to D’Feet ALS [info]. While I’ve already met my fundraising goal of $1,000 thanks to many of my generous friends and family, “Andy’s Gang” (our team) is still falling a bit short. That’s where you and your money might be able to help.

Make a tax-deductible contribution to the ALS Association. Sponsor me, sponsor Andy’s Gang, or make an anonymous contribution through their secure, online donation form. Whatever. You can give however much you want or can. Even though their tickboxes start at $25, they also offer that kickass “other amount” option if $25 is beyond your donation threshold. Remember, it’s tax-deductible, so any donation you grant will also help you financially.

If you have any questions, please feel free to Contact Me. Otherwise, thanks in advance for your contribution, and no harm… no foul… no animosity… no giving you shit if you can’t or don’t donate.

Thanks,
-Gary
