Paying for Online Content

I just shelled out my $30 for a year’s subscription to Salon Premium. That’s less than a dime-a-day… not too bad for some pretty insightful, ad-free content. I must admit, their teaser for “Understanding Kim Jong II” was my breaking point. For the past few weeks, I didn’t have the option of clicking through the mildly-annoying Mercedes-Benz ad to get to the good stuff… which was a nice teaser in itself, I suppose. And, from time to time, they “premium-ize” Joe Conason’s Journal, which is completely understandable, but inconvenient when you’re a cheapskate who likes Joe’s political and media analysis.
